drive out to experiment location before sunrise; set up sun photometer at sunrise so it can track sun until after solar noon
set up two tarps, 240m apart, with a line of flags between them, 1 flag every 20m. line should be aligned with flightline of plane over playa
**collect several hundred spectra** in the 200m region between the tarps (none in the 20m pixels closest to each tarp) to completely characterize this region.
derive average spectra for playa
derive atmospheric transmission values from sun photometer measurements
use playa spectra and atmospheric transmission to model at-AVIRIS radiance
locate tarps in AVIRIS image, and extract radiance of 10 pixels between them
compare this radiance with actual AVIRIS radiance, and compare results
