Free Data for Graduate Research
 |
Any graduate student may receive one AVIRIS flight line per year for graduate
research at no cost.
These data are made available on a best effort basis after data for NASA
funded investigators have been calibrated and distibuted.
Please note that when referring to/requesting AVIRIS data, we are working to use the terms "imaging spectroscopy" and "imaging spectrometer data" rather than "hyperspectral." This allows us to communicate more clearly with our physics, chemistry, and biology science colleagues.
To receive the flight line send:
- A letter on University letterhead as PDF document
- The AVIRIS flight and run (i.e. f08619t01p00_r05)
- A one paragraph description of proposed research
- Signature of the graduate advisor and student on the letter with
email address to: robert.o.green@jpl.nasa.gov
Please discuss the use of the AVIRIS measured upwelling spectral
radiance for quantitative research based on the molecular absorptions
and constituent scattering signatures found in the terrestrial
environment. Please emphasize algorithms and approaches that take
advantage of the spectral nature of AVIRIS data.
This policy may be changed at any time.
